Hello. How are you doing? We never hang out any more. I miss you. I miss us. Everyone’s just so busy, that’s the problem. But we have to make the time. Soon. We should get the whole gang together. We can drink Bloody Marys and talk about the old times. Ah, things were simpler then.
Do you remember how it used to be when we were together?
My name is Alan Alan Trotter. I am twenty six and I live in London. I work am a freelancer, working in publishing. If you have any work you think I might be suitable for, please let me know.
I used to work as a copywriter for Penguin. While I was there I wrote blurbs. for authors like Italo Calvino, John Updike, William Burroughs…, John Steinbeck, Truman Capote, Arthur Miller…, Jack Kerouac, Yukio Mishima and Vladimir Nabokov. I also worked on marketing campaigns and, occasionally, blogged for The Penguin Blog. (The blog is here and there’s a list of my posts here.)
Before that I worked for Black & White Publishing in Edinburgh as an Editorial and Production Assistant. There I did, well, I did a bit of everything, from typesetting to proofreading, and from setting up databases to dealing with printers.
At the moment I work for publishers like Penguin, Puffin and Hodder & Stoughton. I still work on marketing campaigns, and I still write blurbs, and I still blog occasionally (but you knew that). But now I’m up for doing other things too. I’m interested in all kinds of copywriting work. And in design (I do bits and pieces). And very interested in websites and new technologies. (Did you know I made this website? It’s true!) And I make a pretty great author video (email me and I’ll show you). It doesn’t even have to be in publishing, as long as it’s an interesting project.
All in all, I’m a pretty useful guy to have around. I can do all kinds of things. Maybe we should meet up and have a coffee. I probably won’t have coffee. I might have tea. Or a sugary beverage. We can go dutch. Email me and we’ll work out these details.
