		<description>It&#039;s a fair point, but you&#039;re right about how much Poe&#039;s got going for him – maybe we should just leave this one little thing for Wells and Verne. It&#039;s only one genre, he&#039;s got so many others to call his own.</description>

		<description>According to the late Thomas Disch, no mean writer of SF, in his book The Dreams Our Stuff is Made of, the REAL daddy of science fiction is Edgar Allan Poe. 

If you add that to his other invention: detective fiction; and his rather significant contributions to the horror, Gothic, and  ghost story canons, you might as well admit he invented ALL genre fiction (except the sappy kinds for girls).
